Sorority Myth Busters:

Myth: Joining a sorority will hurt my GPA.

FACT: No, joining a sorority will not hurt your GPA. While joining a sorority does require a time commitment of weekly chapter meetings and other chapter events, Delta Gamma realizes that your focus should first and foremost be on your education. Delta Gamma at NIU prides itself on its outstanding academic record, with consecutive semesters of maintaining the highest sorority GPA. From Spring of 2012, Delta Gamma received a combined house grade point average of a 3.16

Myth: Joining a sorority is paying for friends.

FACT: No, joining a sorority is not paying for friends.  While there is a financial commitment required to join a sorority, dues go toward your membership in a large and respected national organization and contribute to running the chapter. Joining a sorority is about sisterhood, networking, leadership, philanthropy, and fun. For more information on what Delta Gamma can offer you, please visit our National Website ( http://www.deltagamma.org ) or contact us via our Contact Us page.

Myth: All sorority girls go out and party all the time.

FACT: No, sorority girls don't just go out and party all the time. The young women in sororities at NIU are actually some of the most involved individuals on campus and in the community. A typical Delta Gamma balances a full course load, an internship or job, is involved in many of NIU's Student Organizations. From Honor Societies to leadership position on the Panhellenic Council, members of the Delta Gamma chapter are very involved at NIU
